Aching Tooth

  • Rinse mouth vigorously with lukewarm water
  • For pain, take Aspirin, Tylenol, or Advil (Remember that Aspirin promotes bleeding.)
  • If swelling is present, apply cold compress outside on the face.
  • Never apply heat or place aspirin on gum or tooth.  Call our office as soon as possible!

Knocked-Out Tooth

  • Locate and hold onto the tooth.  If dirty, rinse gently with lukewarm water.  Do not scrub or "clean" it. If itīs your tooth, carry it inside your mouth or in a glass of milk or water and get to a dentist immediately.  Itīs possible to save lost teeth, but time is of the essence. No more than 45 minutes should elapse between tooth loss and when he dentist re-implants it.

Broken/Chipped Tooth or Filling

  • Gently clean the area with lukewarm water.  Itīs not necessary to save the chip. Place cold compresses next to the injured tooth to minimize swelling. Place cotton moistened with oil of cloves (found at the pharmacy) on the tooth. For pain, take Aspirin, Tylenol, or Advil (Remember that Aspirin promotes bleeding.) Call our office as soon as possible.

Bitten/Cut Lip or Tongue

  • Apply direct pressure to the bleeding area with a clean wet cloth. Place cold compresses in the area of swelling.  See a doctor if the bleeding doesnīt stop or the bit is severe. A stitch may be necessary.
