Bridges

Few incidents have greater impact on dental health and personal appearance than tooth loss. Your chewing, speaking and appearance are all adversely affected. When one or more teeth are missing, the remaining teeth can drift out of position, which can lead to a change in the bite, the loss of additional teeth, decay and gum disease.

A BRIDGE literally bridges the gap where one or more teeth may have been and helps maintain the shape of your face and restore chewing to normal. A bridge is simply one or more replacement teeth anchored by one or more crowns on each side.

Dr. Frantz will first prepare teeth on each side of the space to receive crowns and make an impression of the entire area. The restoration can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials and is bonded onto surrounding teeth for support.

You will then be fitted with a temporary or transitional bridge. In a subsequent visit, Dr. Frantz adjusts and cements the fixed bridge into place.

When having Bridges made, be certain to follow the special home care instructions you receive.
